The Faculty of Design at the Holon Institute of Technology believes that design is a borderless field. This is not a political statement, but a perception of an existing and growing reality. The faculty, which views the diversity of design as an essential part of its conception, believes that part of it is also a national and cultural diversity. The human contact and friction between designer flowers, at the time of their undergraduate studies. shapes the consciousness of the future student / designer to be part of a larger picture than that reflected in his country of origin. As a small country with no ties to its neighbors, it is even more necessary to establish contact with colleagues abroad, as a part of the world of design, one of the dynamics in contemporary fields.

As part of this international perception, the Design Faculty at Holon Institute of Technology’s holds an international workshop week. The opening week of the 2019-20 school year will focus on 10 design workshops for the three departments of the Faculty (Visual communication Design, Interior Design and Industrial Design), with a common and concentrated activity week between 3.11.2019 and 7.11.2019.

The international dimension of the week will come from the lecturers who will lead the project workshops and all of them will come from academies outside of Israel. The exposure of Israeli students to the way they think and look at design and the way to teach design will be the main “bottom line” from the workshop week. The presence of at least 10 international lecturers will also be used during the hours after the workshops for lectures and discussions on issues of the “highest level” of design (as well as less important matters).

The Faculty of Design at the Holon Institute of Technology sees the International Workshop Week as an opening for expanding its international relations, both on the personal level, with the participating lecturers, and on the institutional level, with the academies from which the lecturers are coming, in favor of future joint projects and initiatives.

The hospitality of the team of lecturers from around the academic and professional world is a great pride and a great honor to the Faculty of Design And the future encounter with the faculty and students will be an excellent opportunity to learn from each other.
